The suffering of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, whose life is in critical condition, continues. We have previously petitioned against the BBC’s coverage, now we want the Foreign Secretary to hear our voice. His continued detention is a grave injustice that demands immediate action.
Dr Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, has been held without charge for over 18 months, tortured and denied treatment; his lawyers say he urgently needs hospitalisation. He is one of over 9,000 Palestinians currently held by Israel, whose systematic use of torture has been confirmed by UN experts. A minister has raised his case with Israel, but that’s not enough. Email the Foreign Secretary demanding his release and comprehensive sanctions, including a full arms embargo.
