Rajiv Menon KC is a barrister facing up to two years in prison, accused of contempt for reminding a jury of “jury equity”, the right to acquit according to conscience. He raised it while defending Charlotte Head, a Palestine Action defendant who was later acquitted. He was due to face trial on 28 July. However, due to intense public pressure, he has been granted a last-minute stay on his appeal. His case will now be heard in September.
So let’s keep the pressure up and sign this petition to urge the Justice Secretary and Attorney General to protect our juries from politically-motivated judicial interference.
