					Dear Professor/Dr. [Insert Vice-Chancellor’s Name],

I am writing to you as a [student / alumnus / staff member / local resident] of the [University Name] community. Our university rightly prides itself on being a centre for academic excellence, critical inquiry, and global citizenship. It is with these values in mind that I urge you to address the university's institutional complicity in the ongoing violation of international law and Palestinian human rights.

Universities should be at the forefront of defending human rights, yet many UK academic institutions, including potentially our own, are entangled with the systems of occupation and apartheid through their investment and partnership decisions. The UN, Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International have extensively documented Israel's violations, including the illegal siege of Gaza—a "collective punishment" causing a humanitarian catastrophe—and the expansion of illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land.

As an institution committed to knowledge and justice, [University Name] has a moral and academic duty to ensure it does not lend financial or academic legitimacy to these abuses. I therefore call upon you and the university leadership to take the following concrete actions:

Commit to Full Divestment:
Initiate a transparent review of the university’s endowment and investment portfolio. Following this review, I urge you to develop and implement a clear policy to divest from all companies, both Israeli and international, that are complicit in the violation of Palestinian rights. This includes firms supplying military technology, operating in illegal settlements, or facilitating the infrastructure of occupation.

End Institutional Partnerships with Complicit Companies:
Scrutinise all university research partnerships, collaborations, and careers service links. The university must sever ties with companies and institutions that are actively involved in the arms trade and in sustaining the illegal occupation.

Protect Academic Freedom and Support Palestinian Academia:
Uphold the right of students and staff to research, teach, and advocate for Palestinian rights without fear of censorship or reprisal. Furthermore, I urge the university to build supportive partnerships with Palestinian universities, which face systematic obstruction and attacks.

Issue a Public Statement:
Join other academic institutions worldwide by publicly condemning the ongoing violations of international law and committing the university to a path of ethical investment and partnership that explicitly aligns with the principles of human rights for the Palestinian people.

Taking these steps would reaffirm the university’s status as a leader in ethical practice and social responsibility. It would demonstrate to students, staff, and the wider world that our commitment to human rights is not merely theoretical but is embedded in the core operations of our institution.

I look forward to your substantive response detailing how the university intends to address these urgent matters.

Yours sincerely,
[Your Name]
