Life Support is a groundbreaking documentary produced by the UK-based not-for-profit Pressure Cooker Arts, making its world premiere as part of the Tim Hetherington Award at Sheffield DocFest 2026. The film compiles detailed eyewitness testimonies from some of the most prominent Western-based doctors — specialists in surgery, obstetrics, paediatrics, emergency care, oncology, and infectious disease — who have worked alongside their Palestinian counterparts in Gaza. Their accounts fill a critical information vacuum deliberately created by Israel, which has systematically barred international journalists, human rights investigators, and forensic specialists from entering Gaza, leaving Palestinian medical testimony routinely dismissed or ignored by international media.
As a UN OCHA report notes, international doctors are “vital witnesses to an unfolding genocide on the ground” and are “probably one of the only demographic of workers who have had near-regular access to Gaza since the start of the present war.” Life Support gives these distinguished clinicians the space and depth to articulate not only what they witnessed, but what it means medically, legally, and morally — documenting Israel’s intentional targeting of Gaza’s healthcare system with the rigour and authority that mainstream voices have failed to provide. A film that demands to be seen by anyone who wants to understand what is happening in Gaza’s hospitals.
