Letter to a Co-op Store Manager

This letter is written to thank the Co-op for its principled stand in refusing to stock goods from illegal Israeli settlements and removing Israeli ingredients from its own-brand products. In a time when many remain silent, the Co-op’s action stands out as a powerful show of solidarity with the Palestinian people and respect for international law. We encourage others to express similar support and to shop with businesses that uphold human rights.

					Dear Co-op Store Manager,

I am writing to sincerely thank the Co-op for its brave and principled decision to stop stocking goods produced in illegal Israeli settlements and to remove Israeli ingredients from Co-op branded items.

This ethical stance is deeply appreciated and sends a strong message in support of human rights and international law. The situation in the occupied Palestinian territories—including home demolitions, arbitrary arrests, beatings, and over 900 military checkpoints—has made daily life unbearable for Palestinians since 1967. In Gaza, the crisis has escalated into genocide, with starvation being used as a weapon of war—an act prohibited under international law.

Your decision to act in accordance with findings from the International Court of Justice and uphold moral responsibility, even when many governments fail to do so, is commendable.

As someone who cares deeply about justice and human rights, I am now actively encouraging my friends, family, and wider community to support the Co-op. It is reassuring to be able to shop at a store that does not profit from apartheid or occupation.

Please do share this letter with your Head Office. It is important that your leadership knows that these ethical decisions are seen, valued, and supported.

With gratitude,

Letter to a Pharmacist

This letter is for individuals who wish to make a clear and personal request to their pharmacist to avoid dispensing products made by Teva Pharmaceuticals, an Israeli company. It allows you to formally state your ethical objection to supporting companies linked to the occupation and human rights violations in Palestine. Simply print, fill in your details, and hand or post it to your regular pharmacy.

You can copy the letter below or click the button to open it directly in your email client.

					Dear Pharmacist,

I am writing to formally request that no products manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals be included in any of my prescriptions.

In light of the Israeli regime’s ongoing genocide in Gaza—as well as continued atrocities and killings in the West Bank and East Jerusalem—I do not wish to contribute, directly or indirectly, to any Israeli company.

If I am given a Teva product, I will have to return it unused, resulting in unnecessary waste. I cannot, in good conscience, support a company whose profits help fund war crimes and systematic human rights violations. Under the terms of the Genocide Convention, continuing to knowingly support such entities could implicate individuals in complicity.

I am happy to accept any suitable non-Israeli alternative to Teva products.

Thank you for respecting this request.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Letter to a Pharmacy

This letter is intended for individuals who want to urge their local pharmacy to take a stand for human rights by boycotting Teva Pharmaceuticals, an Israeli company linked to the ongoing siege and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. You are encouraged to copy, personalise, and send this letter to your local pharmacy or healthcare provider. Small actions, like choosing which products to stock, can have a powerful impact.

You can copy the letter below or click the button to open it directly in your email client.

					Dear Pharmacy Team,

As someone who works in healthcare, your compassion and commitment to saving lives is something to be valued. I am writing to ask you to extend that same care to the people of Palestine, who are currently being denied even the most basic healthcare.

For the people of Gaza, access to medical supplies has been devastated—first by the systematic destruction of hospitals and clinics, and then by the 17-year blockade, now tightened into a total siege. Israel is preventing the entry of food, clean water, birthing kits, incubators, and even life-saving medicines. There are reports of baby formula being confiscated from doctors attempting to bring it into Gaza—while thousands of babies face starvation and mothers cannot produce breast milk due to extreme malnutrition.

Given this crisis, I am asking you to boycott Teva Pharmaceuticals, a major Israeli company headquartered in Tel Aviv. Teva profits directly support an economy that fuels the occupation and destruction of Palestinian life. According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the death toll in Gaza may already exceed 100,000, with many still buried under rubble or unaccounted for.

A boycott is a non-violent, historically effective way to hold governments and corporations accountable for crimes against humanity. It sends a clear message: profit must not come at the cost of human life and dignity.

Please consider removing Teva products from your shelves. As a pharmacy committed to health and healing, I urge you to take this small but powerful step in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

One cannot give health with one hand while taking it from someone else with the other.

Please stand for justice. Please stop the sale and use of Teva Pharmaceutical products.

Kind regards,

Letter to a Local Newspaper Editor

This letter is intended for local residents who are concerned about biased or incomplete reporting on Palestine in their local newspaper. It highlights key issues in the media narrative and calls for more balanced, accurate journalism that includes Palestinian voices and relevant international context. Please personalize, and send this letter to the editor of your local paper. Be sure to include specific article references and adapt the examples to reflect your concerns.

You can copy the letter below or click the button to open it directly in your email client.

					Dear [Insert Editor’s Name],

I am writing as a long-time reader of the [Newspaper Name] and a resident of [Your Town/City]. I value the role of local journalism in informing our community, which is why I feel compelled to express my profound disappointment with your paper’s recent coverage of Israel and Palestine.

Your reporting on this issue consistently fails to provide the necessary balance and context, ultimately misleading your readers about the reality on the ground. I refer specifically to the article titled “[Insert Title of Article]” published on [Date].

This article is a clear example of biased reporting. It
[CHOOSE AND ADAPT THE MOST RELEVANT POINTS BELOW]:

Omitted crucial context: It failed to mention the 57-year military occupation, the illegality of Israeli settlements under international law, or the devastating humanitarian impact of the blockade on Gaza, which the UN calls "collective punishment."

Lacked Palestinian voices: The report quoted Israeli officials/spokespeople but failed to include a single Palestinian perspective, voice, or official response, presenting a one-sided narrative.

Used loaded and passive language: It described Palestinian deaths with passive phrasing like “died in clashes,” while framing Israeli military actions with neutral or legitimising language. This framing obscures the vast power imbalance between a nuclear-armed state and an occupied people.

Presented a false equivalence: By framing the situation as a "conflict" between two equal sides, it ignored the fundamental reality of an occupier and an occupied population, as documented by leading human rights organisations like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.

This is not an isolated incident. Such coverage does a great disservice to your readers in Berkshire by denying them a full understanding of the situation. It also ignores the significant local dimension to this story. There are numerous residents, community groups, and faith organisations in our county actively campaigning on this issue, including calling for the Berkshire Pension Fund to divest from companies complicit in the occupation. These are important local stories that your paper is failing to report.

As the editor, you have a responsibility to uphold the core journalistic principles of accuracy, fairness, and impartiality. I urge you to:

Commit to providing genuine balance by ensuring Palestinian voices, experiences, and perspectives are included in all future reporting.

Ensure your journalists provide essential context about the occupation and international law rather than reporting events in a vacuum.

Cover the local campaigns and community efforts in Berkshire related to Palestinian rights and divestment. This is what local news is for.

Consider publishing a response or op-ed from a representative of the local Palestinian solidarity community to correct the record and provide the balance that has been missing.

I trust that you will take these concerns seriously and take active steps to improve your paper’s coverage. Our community deserves no less.

Yours sincerely,

Letter to a Regional Manager of a Supermarket/Retail Chain

This letter is for customers who want to raise ethical concerns with regional managers of supermarkets or retail chains that may be selling goods produced in illegal Israeli settlements. These products violate international law and contribute to the ongoing occupation of Palestinian land. You are encouraged to personalize, and send this letter to the regional manager of your local supermarket or retail chain—be sure to mention your local store and include your loyalty card number if you wish.

You can copy the letter below or click the button to open it directly in your email client.

					Dear Store Manager,

I am writing to you as a concerned member of the public.

You will be aware that there is a genocide taking place in Gaza, and wider Palestine is suffering from violence, ethnic cleansing, and home demolitions. Over 60,000 Palestinians have been killed—more than 70% of whom are women and children. A recent article in Haaretz, an Israeli news outlet, claims the true number may be closer to 100,000. In addition, over 2 million people have been displaced. They have no shelter, very limited access to food, and almost no clean water.

It is, therefore, extremely disappointing to see that your store is still supporting Israel by continuing to stock Israeli-produced goods—and even worse, goods produced in illegally occupied areas of Palestine (i.e., illegal settlements under international law). The International Court of Justice has called on member states to ban the sale of such goods.

Public opinion overwhelmingly condemns the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza and the murder of innocent civilians. More and more customers are boycotting businesses that continue to support this genocide.

I am urging you to do the right thing and stop stocking Israeli-produced goods. A recent groundbreaking decision by the Coop has already set this example—you can follow it too. As a customer, I will make my choices accordingly and share them with others. Each person has influence across family, friends, and the wider community.

Failure to act morally and responsibly will likely lead to significant reputational damage, as has been seen with brands like McDonald's, Zara, and Puma.

Please consider the role your business plays in this global crisis. I hope you will take action that aligns with justice and humanity.

Yours sincerely,

Letter to a Pension Fund Chair / Trustee Board

This letter is for Berkshire residents—especially members of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)—who want to ensure their pension funds are not invested in companies complicit in violations of international law in Palestine. It calls on the trustees of the Royal County of Berkshire Pension Fund to take responsible, ethical action. Please personalize, and send this letter to the fund’s Chair or any trustee board member. If you’re a scheme member, be sure to include your pension number.

You can copy the letter below or click the button to open it directly in your email client.

Dear [Chair/Trustee’s Name], Chair of the Royal County of Berkshire Pension Fund Board,

I am writing as a concerned Berkshire resident and [as a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme, if applicable] regarding the investment portfolio of the Royal County of Berkshire Pension Fund. I urge you and the entire board to fulfil your fiduciary and ethical duties by divesting the fund from companies that are complicit in Israel's violations of international law and Palestinian human rights.

The purpose of a pension fund is to provide long-term security for its members. However, this duty is not met by investing in companies whose operations are entangled with serious legal and reputational risks. Investing in firms that are involved in the illegal occupation of Palestine—whether through supplying military hardware, operating in illegal settlements, or providing infrastructure for the occupation—exposes our pension fund to significant long-term risks, including:

Legal Risk: The prospect of future legal challenges and sanctions against companies profiting from activities deemed illegal under international law.

Reputational Risk: Damage to the fund's reputation by association with well-documented human rights abuses, which can impact stakeholder confidence.

Divestment Risk: The growing global movement for divestment, which can lead to a decline in the value of these holdings as other major investors pull out.

The Israeli government's actions, including the siege of Gaza—described by the UN as "collective punishment"—and the continued construction of illegal settlements, are a source of profound and ongoing instability. Profiting from this situation is not only unethical but is an increasingly imprudent investment strategy.

As trustees of a fund for public servants, you have a duty to act in a manner that reflects the values of those members and the community they serve. It is unconscionable that their retirement funds could be profiting from the oppression of the Palestinian people.

Therefore, I call on the Board of the Royal County of Berkshire Pension Fund to take the following actions:

Commission a Fully Transparent Audit:
Conduct and publish a comprehensive review of all fund assets to identify holdings in companies complicit in violations of international law in Occupied Palestine.

Develop an Exclusionary Screen:
Instruct your fund managers to create and apply a screen to exclude any company that is found to be complicit in these human rights abuses from the fund's portfolio.

Divest from Complicit Companies:
Begin a phased but time-bound process of divesting from all identified companies and publicly report on your progress.

Adopt a Robust Human Rights Policy:
Formalise a comprehensive human rights policy for all future investments, ensuring our fund does not contribute to similar situations elsewhere in the world.

Acting on this is a matter of both sound financial stewardship and profound ethical responsibility.

I look forward to receiving a response detailing the steps the Board will take to address this critical issue.

Yours sincerely,
